Not Just another Writer in Kolkata
The following is a re-discovery of a talent whose name is Khagesh Dev Burman. Born in Agartala, on 14th December, 1940, he has been pioneering literature from his youth. Though, lost from the memories of the readers for a long time

After doing his M.A. from Calcutta University in Political Science, he joined the Indian Revenue Service and retired while he was holding the rank of Commissioner of Income Tax. Besides his academic career, he was always surrounded by a literary and cultural environment from his childhood. The Tripura Royal Family is not only known to patronize different cultural art forms but they are also dedicated artists themselves and are known to possess talent in various types of arts.
The Tripuree blood of artistic tendencies emerged in young Khagesh Dev Burman too. His short stories and poems started to be published in many magazines from the mere age of 15. Through his teenage days, he had gained a reputation in the Tripuree literature community as an emerging writer. In the year 1962, at the beginning phases of his youth, he was able to converge all the Tripuree poets on one platform and became the editor and published their collection of poems- "Prantik".
Though, his writing compulsions had erupted a few times, but bureaucratic pressures in his working area had mostly suppressed his urge for writing. After he retired, he engaged himself again in the dream world of literature and almost, with a lone hand, was able to publish one bi-weekly magazine, called "Prantik Sahitya Patra". Through this magazine mainly, he was able to reach the readers across West Bengal, and especially gained respect as a writer in Kolkata.
Among his other more famous books, "Ganer Rajputra Rahul Dev Burman", "Tripuraye Annaya Rabindra Nath", "Rajnandini", "Santan", "Sandhey Belar Pratham Dupur", "Nasta Samay" are to name a few.
