Buying a R4 Card for your gameing console

In this article, I will discuss what a R4 card is, how it works and what you should know to change your gaming system into an all-in-one hand held device.

Choosing the right card

A R4 card is simply a memory card or small media card that holds up to 2GB of information in a read only memory format or ROM. This means you will be able to not only play more games on your system, but you will able to listen to music and watch videos right from your Nintendo DS.

There are several different types of small media memory cards for the Nintendo DS. There are those that come in the original packaging and there are the ones that are created by engineers and developers that are not associated with Nintendo.

This is important to know for a couple of reasons. Nintendo does not acknowledge the creation of the R4 card and, therefore, in some cases in which there was a defective DS, Nintendo has voided the warranty.

But not to worry, the R4 UK cards will not cause any damage to your system. Now it is not illegal or piracy to use the memory cards, Nintendo has a belief that these cards are the main cause in piracy of their games.

So it is best practice, to not use these memory cards for commercial use or to make a profit. This is important for amateur programmers trying to sell their software to make money. This may lead to serious legal issues if you are in violation of any copyright laws.

Even the R4 UK has limitation

Even though these cards will allow you to do so many more things with your Nintendo DS there are some limitation when using a R4 or R4 UK card. Any games that have been created for a GBA or a Game Boy Advanced gaming system will not be compatible with any programs or software that you have downloaded on you R4 cards.

There are many games that can be played on a DS that can also be played on a GBA. If you want to see which games you have uploaded will play on a Game Boy Advanced, make sure insert your R4 card into Slot two only or the slot label GBA.
