Los Angeles, CA (prHWY.com) July 4, 2012 - To enable its mobile users to read, edit, synchronize any document, Google has purchased the mobile office software, Quickoffice that is speculated to pose a threat to Microsoft office.

San Francisco, 20th June, 2012:

To further expand its office capabilities, Google has recently announced the acquisition of Quickoffice, a pioneer in the mobile office productivity solutions. According to Google, as stated in its official blog, the acquisition will help them to keep ahead of Microsoft office with its new applications that can create documents, spreadsheets, presentations etc. just like Microsoft word, excel and power point. Microsoft, which is in the process of developing office 15 and windows 8 for desktops, laptops and tablet computers, will soon face a stiff competition from Quickoffice with its advanced applications that will enable users to create, view, synchronize and edit data and documents using any of the leading mobile operating systems like, Google Android, Nokia Symbian or Apple's iOS.

If reports are to be believed, it is the ability of Quickoffice to convert any office file format that prompted Google to acquire it. However, Google also announced that it will roll out its features onto different applications in the near future.

Since its inception in the year 1997, it is seen that Quickoffice has been downloaded in more than 300 million devices across 180 countries with 2 million users per month. However, with the recent introduction of 'Connect by Quickoffice' feature to store documentation and files on mobile cloud and a single user interface across various devices have landed a uniformity to the software soaring its popularity even higher. It already has an established presence in the mobile software platform. According to the co-founder and CEO of the company, Alan Masarek, the joint venture between Google and Quickoffice is going to write history in gold in the mobile cloud computing space, as it will prove beneficial for both the firms leading to unexpected productivity.

However, this acquisition is not the first one of this week, as earlier to this; Google had acquired instant messaging software Meebo with the goal of encountering the popular Social Network, Facebook.
