Swinger Survey Reveals Insights on Swinging

The basic swinger survey polled the opinions and experience of respondents regarding sex, threesomes, swinging, and the alternative lifestyle. Social scientists targeted the demographic and questions to determine what real swingers believe and do when it comes to swinging.

10 July 2012, (New Orleans, LA) - Some results were previously published, but pollsters released another raft of information today on swinging from Swinger Social Network (SSN). The results reaffirm what swingers have said about themselves and their experiences in the swinger lifestyle.
Of interest, over 90% of all swingers say they have had a threesome at some point. This continues to affirm what swingers have been emphasizing for decades--that swinging is far more than just wife-swapping. These data confirm that most swinger couples have added another sex partner to their bed rather than just swap with someone new. Additionally, only 1/3 of the respondents said this additional swing partner could be considered polyamorous, suggesting that the sex was purely recreational for most swinger couples.

In addition, only 60% of swingers have swapped partners with another couple. These data suggest that swingers are more likely to be engaging in threesomes than partner swapping or are engaging in activities that some might not classically be viewed as swinging.

One such activity is "parallel play," where a couple has sex with each other while others engage in sexual activity nearby. Over 76% admitted to having sex while others were also having sex nearby and everyone could observe each other. But only 36% of this cohort labeled such parallel play in close proximity as "swinging" suggesting that the ideas, definitions and activities of swingers is far more diverse than those outside understand.

"We find it interesting that approximately 1/3 of swingers did not consider oral sex to be what is called 'full swap' or 'hard swap'," says Helen Wojick from Swinger Social Network. "Even more fascinating," she continued, "are the 4% [of swingers] who didn't even think anal sex was 'full swap!'"

These results can be interpreted in light of the fact that 68% of respondents felt that the degree or type of sexual activity was not relevant, but that it automatically "full swap" if your partner was off in another room with someone else. Additionally, 75% of respondents felt having any kind of sex at all with more than two people was automatically "full swap."
