Richmond Hill Tutor Aims to Improve Student Summer Learning Loss

Certified teacher and television expert releases new book in order to improve student summer learning loss.

Richmond Hill, Canada (prHWY.com) July 14, 2012 - Parents throughout the country have been hearing the alarm bells since learning that studies have shown that children lose valuable math and English skills over the summer. The lack of summer learning has forced parents to seek solutions to help their children be better prepared for school in September.

According to the National Summer Learning Association,
"At best, students showed little or no academic growth over summer. At worst, students lost one to three months of learning."

Furthermore:

"Summer loss was somewhat greater in math than reading...summer loss was greatest in math computation and spelling."

Stuart Ackerman, founder of Ackerman Tutoring based out of Richmond Hill Ontario, has creatively found a way to help parents combat summer learning loss.

"I began to search for ways to help my clients and students practice math and English over the summer," Ackerman stated, "but when I searched online and through countless bookstores, I couldn't find anything that was unique or effective. All I could find were workbooks."

Ackerman, an author and a certified Ontario school teacher with a Masters degree from New York State, decided to write his own book that shows parents how to effortlessly combine the curriculum with every day summer activities.

"I took every day activities and summer-specific outings that families do together and tied them to the curriculum," Ackerman explained. "I tried to show parents that they can help their children learn without having to formally teach them at home."

Currently, Stuart Ackerman has written 9 education-related books under the brand 'Learn'Em Good'. His books cover topics ranging from 'Essay Writing Skills' to 'How to Improve Your Child's Social Skills'. Additionally, Mr. Ackerman, to date, has compiled 30 classic novels, each appended with his unique reading comprehension strategies, which are all available at Amazon.com.
