Dubai, United Arab Emirates (prHWY.com) July 15, 2012 - Dubai Islamic Insurance and Reinsurance Company (AMAN), the largest Islamic Insurance provider in the UAE, is sponsoring the 'Silver Prize' of the 16th session of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, an annual award given for memorization of the Quran sponsored by the government of Dubai. The move reflects the company's long time support for the competition and its aims of encouraging young Muslims to memorize the Holy Quran and spread Quranic values of peace and love.

"Over the last 16 years, AMAN Insurance has been a leading supporter of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, which not only seeks to reward outstanding individuals who have learned to memorize the Quran by heart but also aim to spread the Islamic values of peace and harmony across the world', said Hussein Mohammed Al Meeza, CEO and Managing Director, AMAN Insurance. "We are proud and honored to be a part of this worthy endeavour as we join the whole world in celebrating the holy month of Ramadan."

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award was established in 1997 (1418 Hijri) by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The competition also includes an Islamic Personality of the Year Award, which is presented to an eminent Muslim personality or an outstanding Islamic organisation. There is also a local competition that is open only to UAE nationals and concludes in the Islamic month of Moharram. Each session of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award commences on the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan. During the first week, Muslim scholars deliver lectures on a variety of Islamic and ideological issues. Between the 8th and the 18th of Ramadan, the Holy Quran Recitation and Memorisation Contest (Hifz) takes place, with a panel testing six to eight contestants daily. Only one contestant per country can participate in the memorization competition. The awards ceremony usually takes place on the 20th day of Ramadan in an event held under HH Sheikh Mohammed's patronage.

"We would like to thank the AMAN Insurance group for their support for this year's session of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award. The competition, through the support and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, continues to be a guiding beacon for today's youth, further encouraging them to read, memorize and learn the lessons from the Holy Quran," concluded Chancellor Ibrahim Mohammed Bumelha, Advisor on Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs to HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award.
