Ottawa, Canada (prHWY.com) July 18, 2012 - Ottawa, Ontario (June 25, 2012) - Advanced Hearing Aid Group of Clinics, a practice that provides high quality auditory health care and educational services, is offering a free online hearing test. This short test, composed of eleven questions, aims to help individuals assess their condition using everyday listening situations in which individuals could encounter hearing problems.

The questionnaire mentions scenarios such as asking people to repeat sentences, having problems with people who are not speaking clearly, or needing to be close to a speaker at public gatherings, among others. One to three "yes" answers could mean having hearing problems in certain situations. Four to six could mean difficulties in many situations, while seven to eleven "yes" answers could mean hearing loss.

Whatever the result is, it is recommended that an individual consult a hearing health care professional to determine whether the impairment is temporary or permanent or whether wearing hearing aids is an option.

Hearing aids, which are worn in or behind the ear, are auditory devices that regulate sound by amplifying or modulating the volume. They are cones that funnel sound energy into the ear canal. They do not completely treat hearing loss; they only make sound more available for the person wearing them.

Hearing loss is closely associated with tinnitus, a condition in which a person hears sound where there is actually none. The sound is often described as ringing, hissing, roaring, and other similar noises. This condition can result from neurological damage, ear infection, wax buildup, nasal allergies, and other health problems. Tinnitus treatment is important because tinnitus could be a symptom of hearing loss.
