Chennai, July 15, 2012: TI Cycles organized a randonneuring or cycling event, 'Brevet', in Chennai on 14th and 15th July, 2012. The event flagged off at 5:30 AM, with fifteen cyclists participating in it.

The riders had to cover a cover a stretch of 406 Km, starting from the BSA Hercules Store OMR to Ulunderpet, via Kelambakkam and Vandalur and back. Out of fifteen riders, nine riders were able to complete the distance in twenty three hours and thirty minutes.

Randonneuring is a long-distance cycling sport with its origins in audax cycling. It is also called a randonée or brevet, where the riders attempt courses of 200 km or more, passing through predetermined "controls" (checkpoints) every few tens of kilometers. And a rider who has completed a 200 km event is called a randonneur. Riders aim to complete the course within specified time limits, and receive equal recognition regardless of their finishing order. Riders may travel either in groups or alone. They are expected to be self- sufficient between controls.

The international governing body for randonneuring is Audax Club Parisien (ACP), which works with other randonneuring organizations worldwide through Les Randonneurs Mondiaux (RM). It is popular in France, and has a following in the Netherlands.
