Noida, India (prHWY.com) July 21, 2012 - When Aditya V.S. Mani, a 2011-13 batch PGDM student at BIMTECH, was offered a summer internship with TVS Motors in Jaipur, he was absolutely thrilled. It was not because Jaipur is his hometown; far from it. Aditya hails from Tamil Nadu, but has called Delhi his home ever since he was a child.

"I was asked to explore the buying behaviour of the people of Jaipur with regard to scooters. To improve sales, TVS are trying to figure out what people are looking for while buying a scooter. Since they've launched their own scooter, Figo, they need some data on that part. The primary targets of my research were the high school and college-going segment. There were a lot of school kids in that area, though compared to Delhi, Jaipur is, of course, a smaller city."

Aditya felt that his job had been made easier by his ability to trace out a 'few friendly guys' right at the beginning of his internship with TVS Motors.

"It really helps a lot. You tend to learn quite a bit within a very short time. What you study at college and what you do is a bit different. I mean this specially about the application of what you learn. A good mentor, like the one I had, helped bridge that gap between the classroom and work-place."

But of course, Aditya had his share of challenges too - and sometimes he had to face them away from the office! "Food in Jaipur was a bit different from the Tamilian fare served at home, or the snacky stuff available at the BIMTECH canteen. But I'm fond of trying out different kinds of food since I've been staying on my own for some time now. So the challenge was appealing."

On the subject of his internship, he finds the task at hand quite interesting.

Aditya focussed as much as he could on the distribution and retail aspects of his job as that is where his true interest lies

"Internship is a time in a student's career where he can actually learn a lot and I used that opportunity completely".
