Martin's latest book features McBain, a man seeking revenge for the murder of his estranged sister, Sarah, and her family in a post-Civil War era. Injured in the war, McBain has retired to the high mountains to seek solace and healing. His hard won peace is shattered when he learns of the death of his sister and her family through the machinations of Mace Dillon, a former Pennsylvania colonel who has turned his talents to killing to enrich his personal coffers and ambitions. It's a journey from which McBain doesn't expect to return.

Arriving in the town of Nemesis to begin his hunt, McBain battles bandits, scoundrels and unscrupulous lawmen, even as he does good along the way. When the community has need of a new sheriff, McBain takes the job, enabling him to stay in town without drawing attention to himself.

Using his wits, guns and even bear traps, McBain fights those responsible for his family's death. McBain loses all he holds dear in the fight, his faithful horse and dog, but finds the embers of love in an unexpected place. He kills Dillon and thinks his business is finished, but learns that Dillon's hired gun had saved his sister, ill-used her, and then sold her to Indians. Now a wanted man, McBain has one last task to perform - find his missing sister.

Martin captures the feel of the West and the never-say-die spirit of his characters in "Nemesis." Action packed throughout, the book grabs the reader's interest and they find themselves gladly accompanying McBain on his quest for justice, cheering his accomplishments, and eagerly waiting to join him on the quest to find his sister.


L.J. Martin has authored over 20 western, mystery, thriller and historical novels, including the popular series featuring the Clint Ryan character.
