Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) July 31, 2012 - The discovery of mysterious debris in a local river isn't anything that would normally make the headlines of newspapers, but for one city in eastern Indiana the discovery of such items attracted worldwide attention. The small town of Copper Springs woke one morning to the odd sight of numerous portable kitchen islands placed artistically in the river.

"I awoke one morning and went to have my routine cup of coffee overlooking the river like I always do", said Bob Costly, a resident of Copper Springs. "I was sitting there sipping and I looked up and saw all these portable kitchen islands just floating in the river. I thought it was a joke till I looked closer and saw they looked like they were meant to be sitting there."

It appears as if sometime during the night an unknown artist in the Indiana area went out and placed several portable kitchen islands throughout the river. The kitchen islands were painted with various patterns, drawings and pictures that represented various interests and other items.

"It appears as if whoever planned this put a lot of time and effort into it", said Copper Springs police chief, Tad Rodgers. "Each island appears to be hand painted and placed with care. There was a lot of thought and planning behind these objects."

The news of the mysterious portable kitchen islands spread like wildfire through the town with a population of 5,000. All residents came rushing to the banks of the river with cameras and camcorders to capture the moment.

"It was only a matter of time before these artistic, yet mysterious islands hit the Internet", said Rodgers. "When it did we had people from all over the area coming in to take a look at these islands."

A couple from Mississippi read about the artistic kitchen islands and traveled up to the area in an effort to catch a rare glimpse of them. The couple traveled over a 1,000 and stayed in several different motels, but they were able to get a glimpse of these rare artistic finds.

"We read about it on the Internet and knew we had to come out and see it", said Trina Summers. "It's a once in a lifetime type deal and why shouldn't we take advantage of it. We just planned our summer vacation around it and got to see it. It'll be something we show our kids and grandkids in the future."

Copper Springs plans on keeping the islands in the river and possibly build a tourist attraction around it.
