Sports Betting "Wise Guys" Earning A Decent Living In Las Vegas

Iseewinners.com, FL (prHWY.com) August 1, 2012 - Last week it was reported that a professional gambler made $250,000 throughout the month of June by betting on baseball and basketball games at various sports books on the Las Vegas strip. The Bellagio, the Mirage, Caesar's Palace, and other major casinos all confirmed that they had accepted, and paid out, winning wagers placed by this man.

"It's wasn't the size of his wagers that caught our attention, and it wasn't the fact that he won several large wagers. People win money by betting on sports at our casino every day. If nobody ever won, we wouldn't still be here" exclaimed James McDermott, a member of Caeser's Palace security team. "It was the fact that he won almost every single day for an entire month. His success was attracting the attention of every other player at our sports book, and at times it was beginning to feel like an espionage frenzy when he showed up to place a few wagers. Everyone knew who he was, and they all wanted to know what he was betting on."

William Pittmann, a previously unknown player on the strip, won just over 70% of his baseball bets for the entire month of June and was said to have netted a profit of approximately $250,000. Pittmann rapidly became labeled a wiseguy among the sports betting community; someone who is very knowledgeable and successful at betting on sports. Other bettors frantically tried to learn of his predictions, while ports books began monitoring his wagers to adjust their lines accordingly (a tactic which is often used in an effort to attract public betting on the other team). Pittmann remained quiet and refused to share his secrets with the hordes of tourists, and locals alike, trying to gain insight to his bets. He was at one point approached by a Las Vegas columnist, but declined to comment.

So who was William Pittmann? Before the 2012 NBA Finals, nobody had ever heard of him. A source from the Bellagio Race and Sports Book confirmed that Pittmann is an associate of a professional sports handicapper named Jay Sharpe. Sharpe was a well-known Las Vegas wiseguy who now handicaps sports for a popular website called iseewinners.com. The source acknowledged that Jay Sharpe was the most successful sports bettor Las Vegas had seen in the past decade or so. But Sharpe has not been spotted in Las Vegas since 2005 when his success, much like Pittmanns, caused an undesirable social stir. "Most of these wise guys, as they are labeled by the industry, don't like the publicity. They prefer to remain anonymous and keep a low profile. But they are out there. Most sports bettors bet for the entertainment, to make sporting-events more interesting. These guys invest in it like a true business."

Pittmann hasn't been seen in nearly two weeks and the secrets to his success still remain a mystery to the sports books and the rest of the gambling industry . It is rumored that he is still betting on baseball games in lieu of his success from the NBA Finals with the victory of the Miami Heat over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Some of the Las Vegas Sports Books that we're hit by Pittmann suspect that he is now using a runner to place his wagers for him; a tactic that is used by some bettors to remain anonymous. Several of the Books confirmed that they've paid out another $200,000 to various unknown players that are displaying similar betting tendencies as Pittmann. But after creating a buzz that hasn't been seen in Vegas for years, the highly-successful bettor himself, has all but vanished as mysteriously as he arrived.
