2012 Placement: Breaking New Grounds
While the global slowdown has left even big economies sweating, placements in one of the premier B-schools in the NCR, BIMTECH, seem to have bucked the trend. Of the 379 students of the 2012 batch, 360 have been successfully placed with an average...

Contradicting the doomsday economists' forecasts of the reversal of fortune in the IT industry, for the second consecutive year the maximum draw at BIMTECH came from the IT & ITES Sector, with 100 Management students placed in 20 such companies. 66 BIMTECH graduates were picked up by 15 companies from the Banking and Financial Sector, while 24 companies from the manufacturing sector recruited as many as 43 students of the graduating batch of BIMTECH. There was a surprising spurt in the number of companies from the Retail and Insurance sectors, with as many as 16 companies from each of these sectors presenting themselves at the BIMTECH placements. While 50 BIMTECH graduates were placed in the Insurance sector, Retail absorbed 45 of the sharpest Management students to pass out this year.
Corporate giants like Infosys, TCS, WIPRO, HCL, Accenture, Google, Tally Solutions, L&T Group, Deloitte, Aditya Birla Group, Tata Group, Bank of Baroda, Standard Chartered Bank, Central Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, HDFC Group, Zee Teleflims, Godrej, Maruti Udyog Limited, and Honda Siel Cars returned for the BIMTECH placement season yet again, establishing BIMTECH as one of the most sought after corporate destinations for recruiting a quality management workforce.
Professor K. K. Krishnan, Chairperson, Centre for Corporate Relations and in charge of BIMTECH placements, expressed immense satisfaction at the recruitment this year.
"As compared to 2011, we have widened our base significantly. BIMTECH's students are top notch performers in various corporates. Their reputation has gone viral, and we are perceived by the corporates to be fundamentally very sound in academics," he said.
With the introduction of the KPMG Six Sigma Green Belt Certification for all students this year, the number of converted placements was anticipated to get better by the BIMTECH management, but in the end, the results surpassed even their expectations.
"BIMTECH believes in the continuous upgradation of deliverables and synchronisation with the ever-changing needs of industry," says Dr H. Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH. "We are steadfast in the BIMTECH credo, which is "EXCELLENCE WITH VALUES", and we will enable our students to achieve this."The BIMTECH practice of inviting industry experts during the placement preparations to talk to the students and apprise them of real life situations in the career scenario is a landmark practice emulated my many B-schools today. These series of talks help students understand what to expect and how to conduct themselves in their careers and during their interviews. This year, TATA-AIG conducted a campus-connect programme which proved to be very helpful, and for the next batch, Accenture is expected to deliver the same programme at BIMTECH.
In its unrelenting efforts to empower its management students in the art of interviews, BIMTECH runs all its students through a Question Bank based on the types of questions asked by recruiters. At the end of each placement season, feedback from the recruiters is circulated within the BIMTECH
Faculty and students, to help catapult brand 'BIMTECH' to greater heights.
