Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) August 1, 2012 - Corn and hay mazes are often a popular children's activity that people love to engage in during the fall season. While this interest in corn and hay mazes fades away as a person gets older, it often doesn't go away completely, and one company is taking advantage of that interest.

"We noticed that while people may grow up and not want to run through corn or hay mazes there is still an interest in venturing into the unknown", said Mary Wilds, owner of Behind That Door Maze in Phoenix, Arizona. "There aren't many places that allow people to venture into the unknown and travel through mazes and tunnels, so I came up with my own activity park that appeals to children of all ages."

Behind That Door Maze features an extensive maze filled with twists and turns, and of course doors. Individuals are placed inside the maze and must find their way through the tunnels, doors and mazes to the exit.

"It might sound easy", said Wilds. "But it is harder than it looks. We send each person in there with a pager device so they can push it if they need help and we'll send someone in to help guide them. You'd be surprised but about 60% of the people who come here use that device."

It is estimated that the maze uses over 15,000 doors and features over five miles of tunnels and paths. The doors were provided by donation by a company that specializes in manufacturing doors in the Phoenix area. There is also estimated that over 5,000 people come to the maze a month making it one of the most popular attractions in the Phoenix area.

"I knew this would be popular but I didn't think it would take off as fast as it did", said Wilds. "I am impressed."

Behind the Door Maze plans on hosting several themed mazes in the future. There are talks of hosting a glow in the dark event, a costume maze, haunted maze and other themed events. There are also talks about opening it up to companies and parties in an effort to make the maze fun.

"We think the themed events will attract people to the area", said Wilds. "My goal is to make this something that people will want to visit. You know, have people from all over the nation traveling just to get a chance to travel through the maze of doors."
