Dr Alec Morton is Senior Lecturer in Management Science within the Management Science Group and Departmental Tutor for the BSc Management Sciences. Experts say "For those looking to put a management team together it can therefore often be hard to marry up the right candidates, choosing people who are able to think outside the box, deal well with people as well as having the knowledge and experience of actually being in charge of a team."
Experts say "More often than not, management experience seems like the most attractive quality. However, simply knowing how to lead a team is often the thing that is most easily taught." Having the right disposition and personality to deal with people in a specific industry as well as having the forethought and passion to develop the company in the right way is actually going to end up being far more important.
Dr Morton is a management scientist, decision analyst and occasional game theorist. He is interested in the application of systematic methods and modeling to help organizations deal with situations where values are contested and there are significant uncertainties.
Management training can give current managers extra skills or create a whole new management team, giving you far more freedom to drive your company forward in the most effective way.
