Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) August 13, 2012 - Many individuals must make the difficult decision to choose between seeking a degree in the healthcare industry and seeking a degree in the veterinarian field, but one online school looks to combine people's desire to heal both humans and animals. Healing Hands Online University has proposed a degree that would allow individuals to study both the healthcare sector and veterinarian sector.

"I remember when I was a little girl growing up I used to say I wanted to be a vet and a doctor", said Holly Mae Smith, founder of Healing Hands Online University. "I didn't realize until I was about a junior in high school that if
I wanted to achieve my goals I'd have to spend at least ten years in school."
Holly Mae Smith eventually went on to earn a degree from an accredited online healthcare administration school, but she secretly held the belief that she would one day become a vet and heal all animals. It wasn't until Holly Mae Smith took her dog to the vet that the idea of combining the two programs came up.

"I mentioned to my vet that when I was growing up I wanted to be a vet", said Smith. "She asked me what kept me from becoming one and I said I had to make the difficult choice of healing humans or animals, and I choose humans. We joked around a little and eventually the idea of a combined degree was born."

Holly Mae Smith teamed up with veterinarian Sasha Angelo to start the foundation of the dual degree. It took nearly two years of back and forth communications between the two individuals, in addition to several tours of online programs and vet programs to see what really needed to go into such a program.

"It took a lot of planning and we really weren't sure if this was just something two young girls with high hopes had in mind or if was achievable", said Sasha Angelo. "It wasn't until a year and half into our research that I finally said 'You know we can really do this". "

The program has yet to be released to the public as the two individuals are working on getting accreditation from both the veterinarian industries and healthcare industries. However, the reception for such a program is fairly good.

"I am eager to take part in this program", said high school junior Tad Martian. "I think it'd be really fun and allow me to combine my love of animals and humans and heal both of them at the same time."
