Designer Bathrooms - Apaiser

Richmond, Australia (prHWY.com) August 16, 2012 - With poor use of space and an unfortunate lack of ambience, this bathroom was not an inviting or functional place.

"The brief was to create an ambient, luxurious space -- a resort/hotel spa-like sanctuary, hence the choice of the Apaiser Haven stone bath and matching Sanctum basins. The bathroom renovation was part of an entire home renovation, where the simple brief called for elegance and simplicity with a touch of glamour,"explains designer Teresa Kleeman.

One of the problems with the old layout was that the master bedroom and ensuite space were under-utilised. There were almost wall-to-wall cupboards on the bedroom side, which ate up space from the master ensuite and walk-in robe, so the walls were removed to open up a vast space.

"The stone bath is made from reclaimed marble composite and is the absolute feature of the bathroom," says Kleeman. "We also built a recess niche that runs the length of the entire back wall and is highlighted by hidden aesthetic LED down lights that illuminate the gold foil feature. The floor tiles are taken up the back of the wall, providing a rich contrast and highlighting the feature bath. Recessed mirrored cabinets sit above the twin Apaiser stone Sanctum basins, reflecting their gorgeous organic shape."

Ceiling lighting has been replaced with LED downlights, and ceiling speakers connected to the SONOS home sound system are all flush with the ceiling. A gold foil feature tile is echoed in a further recessed niche within the large shower, which is surrounded by frameless starphire glass.
