Evelyn Lozada files for divorce

VH1 reality star and wife of star footballer Chad Johnson has filed for divorce to end their 41 days old marriage. The reason for divorce is stated to be domestic violence.

Albany, NY (prHWY.com) August 16, 2012 - Evelyn Lozada wife of NFL footballer Chad Johnson is ending their 41 days old marriage after the star footballer head butted her last weekend. Chad was arrested after this incident for domestic violence.

The representative of VH1 reality star Evelyn Lozada confirmed that she filed for divorce last Tuesday. Lozada's lawyer Michael B.Gilden stated that "Given the recent events that have taken place, Evelyn has decided to file for divorce and move on with her life."

Johnson released a statement on his official website OCNN stating, " I am going to let the legal process run its course. I wish Evelyn nothing but the best, I have no negative words to say about her, the only thing I can say is I love her very much."

Johnson faced another blow when he was dropped from his team, Miami Dolphins, on the next day of his arrest. "I will continue to be positive and stay training hard for another opportunity in the NFL. I appreciate all my fans and supporters and if I have disappointed you in any way, you have my sincerest apologies. Once again I will continue to stay positive and appreciate all the support during this tough period in my life."

The reason behind this ugly incident that forced Lozada to file divorce was that she found a receipt for a purchase of condoms, and when she confronted Johnson about it over dinner. They both argued till they drove back home, and when the couple arrived at their driveway, Johnson butt headed her. However, Chad Johnson told police officers that Lozada head butted her.

On Tuesday Lozada released a press statement stating, "I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well."

According to the divorce papers filed by Lozada, she stated that she and Chad has a pre nuptial agreement, but had asked Johnson to pay for the attorney fees associated with divorce.
