Television Pilot "Myrna" Begins Funding Campaign for Transgender Show
Less Is More Productions launches a Kickstarter Campaign to raise funds for an original dramedy television pilot, Myrna, which follows a transsexual as she confronts her true gender identity and makes the transition from male to female.

Inspired by the real life experiences of this much anticipated project's star and writer, Marlo Bernier , formally Mark Bernier (Angels in America, Cecil B DeMented), this half hour dramedy speaks with a voice yet to be shown on television, but is able to show the universal nature of the human experience. Bernier affirms, "with 'Myrna' we are seeking to elevate the public's understanding on the oft times misconstrued topic of transsexualism - it's time we stop depicting the sole image of transgender people in popular media as being relegated to the peripheries of society such as drug addicts and prostitutes." Myrna shows life day to day for a transgender woman in a way few other works have dared to do. Producer Matt Olson explains, "You don't have to be a mobster to enjoy The Sopranos (the same way) you don't need to be transgender to enjoy Myrna."
After a successful career in front of the camera and on the stage, Myrna sacrificed everything when she finally confronted her true gender identity and transitioned from male-to-female. The project follows Myrna (Marlo Bernier) as she struggles to find work as an actress and deals with her friends' reactions as they together come to terms with her life-altering decision. Director, Ted Campbell asserts, "'Myrna' will be as provocative as it is touching. It is a story about a human being with all the same ups and downs in life, all the same faults and strengths within each of us. She just happens to be transsexual."
"'Myrna' teaches us all," observes Producer Jennifer Fontaine, "that we have the ability, every second we are alive, to make a profound and meaningful change in the way we live our lives." Myrna marks the fourth collaboration for Marlo Bernier, Jennifer Fontaine and Ted Campbell whose previous projects, Stealth (2009), Snuff (2012), and Finding John Smith (2012) have garnered critical acclaim for their unique and relate-able narratives on complex and controversial subjects. As an additional means of fundraising many of these previous works will be screening with the filmmakers in attendance at some of the crews' favorite venues in the Los Angeles area.
In addition to the development of a pilot, Less is More will also be producing and re-releasing previous works of Marlo Bernier including a podcast of her one woman show "At Least I'll Own A Dress". These will be made available episodically throughout the fundraising drive to give the donors and fans a taste of her unique voice and worldview.
