Step 1: Wake Up, Drink Water! Let's say you get about 8 hours of sleep per night. Now imagine working for a normal day of 8 hours without drinking any water. You would be pretty thirsty wouldn't you? It's no different with an 8 hour night of sleep. One 12 ounce glass of water right when you wake up has been proven to raise metabolism by 14 percent for 3 hours. That means you are burning fat like crazy for the first 3 hours of every day without even working out.
Step 2: High Calorie Breakfast! It seems crazy but it is proven that the more calories you consume before the start of your day, the more calories you burn throughout the day.
Step 3: Eat 5 Meals A Day! I hear of people all the time skipping meals and thinking that it's better for them because they are taking in less calories. Wrong! When you skip a meal your body goes into survival mode. It notices that it hasn't been fed so the next time it does get food your body stores the food as fat, with the expectation of you skipping a meal again. If you eat 3 full meals a day and 2 small snacks, you will significantly raise your metabolism and burn calories rather than store them.
Step 4: Lift Weights! The part of your body that burns calories is lean muscle. The more lean muscle you have, the more calories you burn. I'm not telling you to spend 10 hours at the gym everyday. A half hour with a pair of dumbbells would maintain what I like to call your fat furnace, muscle!
