Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) August 22, 2012 - Everybody hates it when they have to move. The stress, the timing, the money, the uncertainty. The packing, the organizing, the driving, the unpacking. Finding out that you have too much stuff and you have to store it or throw it away. It's all a gigantic mess.

Which was why when a few companies started the idea of moving pods (also known as mobile pods, mobile storage units, etc) there was a collective sigh in the universe as one of the most awful and degrading processes in the world was made that much easier.

The idea was that a company would bring a large mobile container and you could pack your things and put them in that container at your own pace, and when you were all ready, they would come with a truck and pick it up and drive it to your new location. Genius!

But then something happened. People would order these pods, but then the stress would return when they got everything packed in if they weren't quite ready to actually move yet. There would be a sort of franticness as people thought to themselves "I have my things in a moving pod but we're not moving yet!"

So, one company thought about that unfortunate side effect of the great service and decide to change the name of their particular product to "Staying Pods".

Just that short semantic change has made all the difference in the world, according to company directory Charlie Huntsman.

"People are now completely stress-free about the whole situation," he says. "They now understand that moving is not just about actual movement, but it's about storing and organizing as well, which could sometimes be lost in the translation. Other companies were stressing speed and efficiency, while we decided we were going to take a different direction and stress the fact that you can move when you're ready to move, but you can stay if all you want to do is stay."

Huntsman said that word of mouth was so good after the first few customers signed up that they don't even have to advertise anymore, and they have more than enough clients to keep them occupied for at least the next full business year.

"It's so crazy to think that a small change in framing an idea can make sure a huge difference in sales," said Huntsman.
