Small Town Unites in Goose's Quest for Love

Birds and other animals have been known to fall in love with their mates at first sight, but for a goose in a small town in Utah the love of his life has become the talk of the neighborhood. Quick Quack as he is known around the town fell in love

Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) August 28, 2012 - Birds and other animals have been known to fall in love with their mates at first sight, but for a goose in a small town in Utah the love of his life has become the talk of the neighborhood. Quick Quack as he is known around the town fell in love with his own reflection.

"I had just finished washing my car", explained Todd Smith, a resident of the small Utah town. "I had started to use a new car polish on the exterior when I noticed Quick Quack sort of waddle up to the car and look at it oddly. I could see his eyes turn into little hearts, but I had no idea what was going on."

Quick Quack walked over to the car and just appeared to be staring longingly into his own reflection. The new car polish that Todd Smith used created a mirror image of the goose. It was this image that Quick Quack fell in love with at first glance.

"I have never seen a duck do that before", said the local vet. "I have read about cases where ducks and geese who have very little contact with other animals fall in love with the first thing they see that is close to them, but I think this might be the first case of a goose falling in love with himself."

Residents believed that Quick Quack's appearance with his reflection was a one-time thing, but the goose started coming back to Todd Smith's driveway every day. The goose would appear at the same time as if it were a pre-arranged date.

"It was really crazy", said Smith. "I could almost set my watch by when Quick Quack would appear. He didn't do anything odd to the car; he just sort of stared at his reflection and makes a few noises then walk off. It is kind of funny."

The town started to get into the whole romance with Quick Quack. People started making small cushions for the duck to sit on, brought mirrors for him to look at himself, and even would gather around Todd Smith's home to cheer the duck on in his quest for love. Some guest even play romantic love songs to encourage the duck/goose.

"This whole thing has really gotten out of hand", said Todd Smith. "Just the other day a couple drove eight hours just to see Quick Quack's new love. I can't believe it."
