In 1958, Jules Silverman, a Miami native and fresh out of Southern College of Optometry, opened up his optical at 3005 W. Broward Blvd. It was the first Optometry office in Plantation. Back then, 441 was a dirt road and the cost of an eye exam was $7.00! Six years later, he moved the office to 4330 W. Broward Blvd, where he stayed until 1976.

Bruce Conan was born in New York. He attended the University of Miami and fell in love with Florida. After graduating from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1972, he moved back to South Florida and started working for Dr. Connie Jordan. A few short months later, Dr. Jordan passed away. Dr. Conan took over the practice, which was located at Westgate Plaza, and stayed there for six years.In 1978, Dr. Silverman moved his practice to the current location at 4320 W. Broward Blvd Suite 2, and decided to share space with Dr. Conan. They eventually merged the two practices together in 1980 and continued practicing until Dr. Silverman retired in 1998.

After practicing by himself for another 12 years, Dr. Conan decided he wanted to slow down. Jonathan Gordon joined the practice in mid 2010. Dr. Jonathan Gordon grew up in Plantation. He graduated from Nova High School in 1990 and then attended the University of Florida in Gainesville. He continued his studies at Nova Southeastern College of Optometry where he graduated in 2000. After working for 2 prominent ophthalmologists in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, Dr. Gordon worked in corporate optometry for 8 years building 2 successful practices. This combination of diverse environments covered the spectrum from LASIK and complex surgical cases to contact lens fittings for Keratoconus and routine eye exams. This allows him a unique perspective of the field and, with his passion for exceptional health care, he continually strives to make the experience for his patients as memorable as possible. Dr. Gordon currently lives in Ft. Lauderdale. He has 2 children and when he is not working, he enjoys a very active lifestyle including working out, boating, water sports and spending
time with his family.

Dr. Bruce Conan was born in New York. He moved to Florida to attend The University of Miami After graduating in 1968, he continued his studies at Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he graduated in 1972. He moved back to South Florida where he has practiced for 40 years. Over the course of his career, Dr. Conan has volunteered with many charities including JAFCO, Salvation Army, and Jewish Family Services. Countless numbers of examinations and eyeglasses have been provided at little or no cost. Dr. Conan is semi-retired and is happy to spend time with his friends and family. The majority of his patients as well as all new patients are now examined by Dr. Gordon.

Dr. Jules Silverman is a Miami native. His family moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1939. He attended Emory University in Georgia and then Southern College of Optometry in Tennessee. He graduated in 1958 and moved back to Ft. Lauderdale where he opened the first optometry office in Plantation as well as western Broward County. He eventually merged the practice with Dr. Silverman and continued as a partner until he retired in 1998. Dr. Silverman is probably on a cruise somewhere...
