Caldwell, ID (prHWY.com) September 4, 2012 - West Idaho Orthopedics recently announced the arrival of Mary Zortman as the center's Workers' Compensation Liaison. Ms. Zortman will be working closely with Dr. George Nicola, Dr. John Q. Smith, Dr. Charles Schneider, Dr. Michael Shevlin and Dr Robert Hansen to assist patients with questions about workers compensation insurance. Her training under Idaho Industrial Commission regulations and years of experience with workers compensation surety makes her an asset to the Idaho sports medicine center. Patients in the greater Boise area including Meridian and Caldwell, Idaho will benefit from her expertise.

For years, area residents in need of an Idaho orthopedic surgeon to perform minimally invasive surgery to repair a rotator cuff tear or perform arthroscopic knee surgery have chosen West Idaho Orthopedics. Because many of the conditions that necessitate such minimally invasive surgery arise from workplace injuries, it's vital that patients have an informed liaison to assist them through the workers compensation surety process. While an Idaho orthopedic surgeon tends to physical rehabilitation, Ms. Zortman can help with coordinating the necessary paperwork involved in workers compensation insurance claims. A patient who needs shoulder arthroscopic surgery can now find medical care and insurance assistance in one place.

An occupational health specialist since 2007, Ms. Zortman plays a key role in fulfilling West Idaho Orthopedics' motto: "Getting you back on the job is our job." She's received training from the Idaho Industrial Commission and became a certified Work Compensation Specialist in 2010. She also obtained her certification as a DOT collector and as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist.

Idaho sports medicine specialists at WIO regularly perform shoulder arthroscopic surgery and arthroscopic knee surgery. Although a doctor can repair a rotator cuff tear or other musculoskeletal injury through surgery, a workers' compensation specialist can make that surgery possible financially. Ms. Zortman's extensive experience working with insurance providers, employers and third-party case managers helps to ensure that patients get the care they need throughout the region, including Boise, Meridian and Caldwell, Idaho.

The medical staff at West Idaho Orthopedics, Dr. George Nicola, Dr. John Q. Smith, Dr. Charles Schneider, Dr. Michael Shevlin and Dr Robert Hansen, have extended a warm welcome to Mary Zortman as she supplies a key piece of the process of returning patients to work. Her role as the center's Workers' Compensation Liaison and occupational health patient coordinator will help each doctor provide a full range of care to injured workers.
