Five Ways to Save on Nintendo 3DS
Every year, it seems there is a new Nintendo console release. The Nintendo 3DS debuted as the highest-priced handheld Nintendo console yet--so expensive, in fact, that the company had to slash the price to raise sales.

Nintendo 3DS:
Nintendo 3DS bundles. Hardcore gamers know this tip. Those just getting into games will be happy to learn about bundles--meaning sets of items. A bundle can be a console plus a game, a console plus a case, or even a set of accessories "bundled" together. It's just like many other bulk purchases--buy more at once and save. 3DS bundles can save buyers from $5 to $25 or more depending on the purchase.
Use coupon codes online. There are numerous sites that offer discounts of 10%, 15%, even 20% off a purchase of consoles or games if you are patient a check often. Examples of these sites are RetailMeNot.com, Savings.com, and CouponCabin.com. They feature most stores gamers love--Gamestop, EB Games, Nintendo Online, and many others.
Consider used games and consoles. While avid gamers already know about and love this store, parents who are new to game consoles for their children may not! At stores like Gamestop, you can trade in old consoles and games for big discounts. Plus, you can purchase used consoles priced at lower prices. If you are purchasing a 3DS, trading in 5 to 10 old games and getting a used console can save you $75-$100.
Rent games. Gamefly is the most popular site right now for renting out games. You can sign up for various packages through which you rent games at a set monthly price. It's like Netflix--just for games. (It has also been reported that Netflix is going to start renting games--definitely worth checking out!) With game prices ranging from $20 to $65 or more, the monthly fee at Gamefly can get you multiple games at the price shoppers normally pay for a single game.
Use credit card rewards. American Express users can get a console using reward points alone. Other credit cards have similar programs; if you use a card and have reward points, make sure to check out the store options--you may be able to purchase a brand new console using all points and no cash. As with other consoles, the 3DS is a big purchase.
With so many stores on the web to choose from, it's only logical that some sell the exact same console for less than others. Walmart tends to offer inexpensive game bundles, while Amazon, eBay, and GameStop are excellent destinations for used consoles.
