Small Town Faces Possible Extinction
It's hard to image that once a town or city has made the map that it could easily disappear. In fact, stories of towns disappearing often sound like things that are reserved for horror movies or ghost stories, but for one little town in Idaho

"Our town has been around since the early 1800s", said the town historian, Sam Wilson. "People came here during the gold rush and within a month of the first settlers coming here we had thousands of people. Now we face the possibility of being wiped off the map all because of a silly issue like debt."
The town, known as Gold Rusher's Corner, has accumulated considerable debt over the years. Payments to school board officials, teachers, city workers, and maintenance have led this once thriving town to accumulate over $6.7 million in debt. Now, the town faces the 'repo' man.
"It's hard to believe that there would be a repo man for this type of thing, but there is", said Wilson. "What would happen is the entire town would be wiped off the map and the finances would be split up amongst the banks and other individuals they owe money too."
Gold Rusher's Corner may have one saving grace left. A small debtmanagement company that has successfully helped the United States avoid repo to foreign countries has stepped up to the plate to help.
"We have successfully helped the United States avoid falling into the hands of foreign countries", said a spokesperson for the company. "The United States has over three billion dollars in debt and it is my debt management company that has helped the country keep some of its independence. I think I can do that with a small town."
The mayor, city council members and all citizens are going to meet with the company to help devise a plan to avoid losing the city to other people. The company believes that it can help the company turn its financial situation around in approximately a year if all goes well.
The reaction to such a dire situation is relatively surprising. Many residents are confident that the town can turn the situation around and are actually excited about being a part of history.
"This is a part of Gold Rusher's Corner's history", said Tad Johnson. "I am proud to be a part of it and it will be something that I tell my children and their children for years to come."
