Eugene, OR (prHWY.com) September 18, 2012 - MAPLETON, Oregon; September 13, 2012: Once school starts, my mind turns to the upcoming holidays, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on that! Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other festive days beckon us. This is also the time of year when I begin my list of gifts that I would like to make for those on my list. The more time I give myself, the better!

For my husband and son, it's a new pair of flannel pajama pants, and possibly a matching robe. This year, the robes will be monogrammed with a fun http://http://www.oregonpatch or embroider font that I downloaded from my favorite designer; her free gift to us. They will also receive a new pillowcase and several pairs of boxer shorts each with fun, somewhat risqué designs stitched on them. Yes, they do actually wear them!

Everyone else on my list this year will get a small assortment of hand-dyed handkerchiefs with tiny monograms. The ladies will also get some of the little soaps that I make. Oh and then there are the free-standing lace ornaments that I make for all of my husband's co-workers; can't forget those! Each of us wives does a little handicraft as a gift, so it's quite fun to see what everyone comes up with each year.

I love gift giving! I really do! I'm able to find wonderful gifts when shopping and come up with my stitching list quite easily. I try to work on my holiday list all year, but I always end up rushing at the last minute. I'm completely sure I'm not alone on that!

Regardless of whether I start early or have a last-minute item to create, my favorite embroidery design gallery is always there for me! Oregon Patchworks, or OPW, has every type of embroidery project and design that anyone could hope for! Lace, cut work, quilting and more are always available and always wonderful.

When I'm making my list, I always visit OPW's Members Only Club first. It's a great way to get ideas because the club is full of free patterns and tutorials for every style and talent. The designers that showcase their wares at Oregon Patchworks are generous enough to share these patterns and projects for free. What a nice way to say they care!

Once I've got my ideas and my list in order, I then visit each of the embroidery artists pages to find the perfect embroidery to complement my projects. It's so much easier these days when I allow my http://http://www.oregonpatch or embroider supply machine to do most of the work, and I'm so happy to have discovered OPW to help me in every way imaginable!

After the designs are decided on, I then have a lazy browse of all the other wonderful items available! I can create fabulous embroidered cards with a beautiful array of Mulberry paper or add sparkle with hot-fix crystals. Padded hangers are a powerful temptation, especially with the beautiful embroidery projects that make them spectacular. Thread, software, tutorials and quilt templates round out the Oregon Patchworks' offerings.

With all there is to do and look at on a visit to OPW, it's a miracle I get anything done at all! But, I just smile as I stitch and leave the world behind.
