Hood Tech's new 11 EOIR1 electro-optical imaging system took flight September 10, 2012 on the RQ-21A Small Tactical Aircraft System (STUAS). The shakedown flight lasted 66 minutes. (www.navair.navy.mil/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.NavairNewsStory&id=5120), "I suspect during the test flight the imaging system saw little use, unlike expectations for when the UAV is deployed," said Lars Bergstrom, the Chief of Operations Officer for Hood Tech Vision. "We expect that, when deployed, the RQ21A will rely for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) on the robustness and definition of the camera ball, which is fully gimbaled, features a 160 X zoom lens, and relies on field-proven electronics and software."
