Losangels, CA (prHWY.com) September 25, 2012 - Vegetable oil is the oil that is extracted from the natural oil bearing seeds such as peanuts, olive, soybeans and sunflower seeds etc. Some of these seeds are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids while some are the rich source of Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids. These fatty acids are the essential fatty acids required by the body but are not produced in the body and hence need to be consumed. These oils have their very important role in Human food cooking, as we use them for different purposes and in variety of foods, such as to improve food texture, frying, as a base for flavor, in the preparation of pastries and puddings and etc. These are often called by their chemical names also such as DHA (docosahexaeonic acid), alpha-linolenic acid, linolenic acid and EPA (eicosapentaeonic acid) etc.

These vegetable oils are 100% fat but if consumed in required quantity; the fatty acids are beneficial for our body. Fatty acids are essential in normal body growth and functioning. They have anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-blood clotting properties that helps in maintaining normal metabolism of the body and reduce inflammation through the body. They also help in maintaining critical body function such as regulation of pressure in eyes, joints and blood vessels, nerve transmission, division of cells, transportation of oxygen from cells to tissues, supporting immune responses, muscle reflexes and providing strength to the heart muscle.

Many countries and regions use fish oil for omega-3 fatty acids. Though fish oil can be beneficial but it has observed that some fishes such as albacore tuna, swordfish and tilefish should not be consumed as they also contain contaminants such as mercury, chlordane and PCBs which may affect the human body more than benefitting it. Hence for those who rely on fish for fish oil, they must choose wisely the species of fish they are consuming.
Whether you consume fish oil or the vegetable oils, just make sure that you are buying the right product, following the right cooking practices and consuming them in not more than required quantity, because if these are consumed in excess can harm the body than doing any good.
