Walkers Hit the Streets of Etobicoke for the 2012 Walk for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)
This is the PKD Foundation of Canada's signature fundraising event. National efforts expected to raise more than $80,000 for critical Canadian PKD Research.

Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is one of the most common, life-threatening genetic diseases in the world. PKD causes cysts to grow in the kidneys and eventually lead to kidney failure. Dialysis or transplantation are the only means of prolonging one's quality of life when experiencing end-stage renal failure. There is no cure for PKD.
The goal of the Toronto Walk for PKD, hosted by the PKD Foundation of Canada, is to raise critical funds and invaluable public awareness for research into Polycystic Kidney Disease.
Registration takes place at Centennial Park - Picnic Area 6 in Etobicoke at 9:30am on Sunday, September 30th, 2012. The walk starts promptly at 11:00am and will be followed by a post-walk BBQ for all attendees.
Globally, some 12.5 million people have PKD. The Walk for PKD takes place in 60 cities worldwide and thousands of North American's take to the streets every year raising funds to find a cure for PKD. Donations can also be made online by visiting the PKD Foundation of Canada website.
The Toronto Chapter of the PKD Foundation of Canada also hosts bi-monthly educational support group meetings for local patients, their families and friends.
PKD patients and families hope their stories will inspire others to help fund research and find a cure for this devastating disease. To arrange interviews, contact Executive Director, Jeffrey Robertson at jrobertson(AT)endpkd(DOT)ca or (416)410-1740.
