Massive Class Reunion Tries to Break World Record with Attendance
Class reunions are typically thought of as special occasions where an entire class gets together to catch up on each other's lives, but one school in Cleveland, Ohio is trying for the title of 'World's Largest Class Reunion'.

"Our normal class reunions have approximately 100 people attend", said alumni director, Jean Overland. "We thought it would be a fun and exciting event if we tried to break a world record with our class reunions. So we decided to try it for the year 2013."
The school has invited every graduating class from 2012 on to attend the class reunion. If only 40% of those individuals replied to the invite the school will be able to go down in history as hosting the world's largest class reunion.
"We think this title could help our school so much", explained Overland. "We could get funding with it, we could use it to market our school to students and it would just be something we could brag about for years to come."
The school has started sending out invites to the class reunion early. Usually the invites for a class reunion are sent out with approximately four months to go to the event. The invites for this reunion are going out almost 2 years early.
"We really want to break the record", said Overland. "The only way to do that is to make sure that everyone has time to plan on attending the event."
Response for the early invites has been overwhelming. Approximately 20% of the individuals have already responded that they plan on attending. Some of the individuals are flying in from Eastern Europe and other foreign countries.
"Some of our alumni have moved to Europe", said Overland. "They really want to celebrate this event with us. So they are making plans to fly back."
Some of the responses have come from some of the oldest alumni the school has. A 75 year old graduate of the school responded that she was going to be attending with her daughter, also a graduate and her grandchildren who graduated from the school.
"We think this is not only a cool family event that we can attend", said Terri Young. "This is also a historical event that we will be attending. It will be so fun and something we can tell our family that we did."
