Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) September 27, 2012 - One of the major requirements to become a pilot is that individuals in this career field need to have almost 20/20 vision. People are unable to wear contact lenses or glasses to get this type of vision due to the possibility that shards of glass could wind up in the eye. This situation often left many people walking away from their dream of flying a plan. That was until now.

A local St. Louis eye surgeon is making a commitment to help any individual who has a dream of becoming a pilot. Dr. Louis Winters is offering an almost 50% discount on eye surgery for people who are actively enrolled in flight training school.

"I once had a dream of being a pilot", explained Dr. Winters. "I was not allowed to even enroll in classes because my vision wasn't 20/20. Of course during that period there wasn't LASIK surgery and all these other eye surgeries that could help. So I changed my dreams and became an eye surgeon. Now I want to help others who had similar goals to me."

Dr. Winters has traveled around the St. Louis area offering classes and seminars to individuals who hope to become a pilot. These classes and seminars talk about the importance of 20/20 vision and how various eye surgeries can help people achieve this type of vision with relatively no problems.

"I travel around to schools talking to high school students and college students about what I can do for them", explained Dr. Winters. "Many students grew up thinking that because they had to wear glasses they couldn't become pilots. I am changing how they see things. I guess in both a literal and figurative way."

When Dr. Winters is done speaking he presents the college students with a coupon to come to his offices and seek out a consultation. The high school students are not eligible until they enroll in college.

"I think what Dr. Winters is doing is really changing how children and people think of pilots", said Jane Slipper, marketing director for the St. Louis Aviation Committee. "We have so many people that have been wrongly taught that they couldn't become a pilot. Think of how many doors he is opening up for people."

Dr. Winters has currently performed over 25 eye surgeries on students who have dreams of becoming a pilot. His wall in his office is filled with pictures of the students at their aviation graduation.

"I have these pictures up so that people can see how I'm making dreams come true", said Dr. Winters. "It really is inspiring."
