Dubai, United Arab Emirates (prHWY.com) October 1, 2012 - Jotun Paints, one of the world's leading producers and distributors of paints and coatings, recently hosted and organized a special activity called 'Colorful Fun Day' for the underprivileged children of the 'Bilal Bin Rabah Center for Memorising Quran'. The event, which was held in cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent Society, is part of Jotun's CSR based initiatives that seeks to reach out and extend key support to the local communities. During the activity, the company distributed new school bags and school supplies to 302 children under the care of the Center. Aside from the distribution of the special school gifts, the children were also treated to a full day of fun activities, which included a magic show, games, prize giveaways, juggling clowns, popcorn, candies and balloons.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarouni, Director of UAE Red Crescent Society said: "This initiative not only sets out to help children but also aims to touch their hearts as well. During the start of every school year, the UAE Red Crescent Society makes sure that every student is equipped with school bags, especially those from low-income families. We also offer financial aid to those who are in need; ultimately helping them complete their education. We would like to extend our dearest thanks to Jotun Paints for donating these school bags and distributing them among the students."

"I am very pleased to see my students take part in these joyful activities, which has definitely left a positive significant impact on them, considering that most of the students at the Center are from low-income families," said Reem Al Abbar, Manager of Bilal Bin Rabah Center for Memorizing Quran. "The Centre has been primarily established to offer complimentary educational services to students who are in need of financial assistance. In this regard, I would like to thank the UAE Red Crescent Society for its support and Jotun Paints for drawing a smile on our children's faces."

'Colorful Fun Day' reflects Jotun's long standing commitment towards extending support to charitable causes, organizations and initiatives, which is also part of its move to become a CSR model for other companies in the region to follow. With over three decades of significant success in the Middle East, Jotun has seen it fitting to give back to the local community by supporting programs and to help enhance its development.

"We are extremely happy at the successful turn out of this event. Surely, there is a heart warming feeling in seeing the smiles of the children who participated today and received our gifts of school bags and supplies. At Jotun, it has always been our core belief that the use of colors, in all its bright and vibrant forms, can influence human emotions. Over the years, this belief has inspired us in becoming more involved and supportive with many charitable organizations in the region--our CSR activities are not one time projects, but rather we see it as a never ending process. Activities like these helps convey the message that this is our way of giving back to the community that has helped us nurture and grow, while also showing that our products protects and adds more beauty to the community and the society we live in," concluded Trine Finnevolden, GM, Jotun Paints.
