The LaserViper pointing system is located in the pick window of the VLM. It identifies items to be picked with a red dot, eliminating miss-picks for increased operator picking speed and accuracy. The system can pinpoint inventory and items as small as a fraction of an inch. Items such as vials, fasteners and small boxes of inventory can be located immediately.

Because the LaserViper in the Viper VLM pointing system eliminates light bars and indicators that operators have to read before manually locating a stored item in a tray, it allows higher tray storage density without sacrificing accuracy and productivity.

The Viper Vertical Lift Module is an automated storage and retrieval system which stores trays in the front and rear of a column. A robotic inserter/extractor device travels in the center of the column picking trays and delivering them to an ergonomic positioned pick window for the operator to pick from. Before the tray is positioned in the pick window, the LaserViper automatically places a laser red dot on the item(s) to be picked. This allows trays to utilize partitions and dividers or small totes and boxes to provide even higher levels of storage density.

Trays are automatically stored in the smallest space possible by using the Viper Vertical Lift Module's ability to dynamically determine the proper storage height of the tray being stored or by using pre-set positions which not only improve throughput and worker productivity, but also assures that there is no wasted space on the tray. Either way, the Viper VLM will save up to 85% of otherwise wasted floor space.
