Noida, India (prHWY.com) October 9, 2012 - Only two days now separate you and the CAT 2012. While most of the takers have selected the middle or the end slots, a significant number of MBA aspirants have booked the first slots as well. For them, the final countdown has begun. This article shares with you tips for all the three slots.

While CAT takers of the early slots have reached the fag end of preparation, candidates for middle and end slots still have some time left to polish their preparation. Let us have a look at what experts have to say to you.
Early birds

As the proverb goes, early bird takes the worm. The advantage of CAT takers in the early slot is that, you can go to the test center without any inhibitions or pre-conceived notions regarding the exam pattern. Now that there are two days to go for the big day, you should keep in mind the following:

* Revise: Revision is the keyword now. Go through all the topics you have prepared so far. Your revision will make the areas stronger and help you prepare better for weak areas.

* Don't start anything new: By now, you have done what you could have prepared. If you have left any particular area, do not rue it. Even if it bears a lot of weight in the exam, don't panic. Be confident about the areas you are strong at. "There is no point preparing for anything new now. Just revise whatever you have done so far," says Arks Srinivas.

* Managing your strengths & weaknesses: Balance your strengths and weaknesses. Spend more time on the weak areas to improve. You should at least have this much confidence to identify easier questions from the weak areas and attempt them. However, you should not ignore strengths as well. Give adequate time to revise them and regularly practise questions on these areas. Strong areas are your trump cards, so don't take them for granted and treat them with high importance.

* Practise questions & go back to mocks: This time is the best for taking small practice tests on a particular section in a time-bound manner. If you are taking sectional test, maintain the 70-minute timeline. Don't take more than two to three minutes for a question. "Don't take any new mock test at this stage as it might increase your anxiety level. It is better to go back to previously taken mock tests. It will help you a lot in terms of revision as well as being confident about the strategy," mentions Shaunak Acharya, CAT 2011 99.97 percentiler.

* Don't overstress yourself: It is okay to be a little tense over the exam, but don't overstress yourself. You still have two days to go and if you plan and manage your time table well, you can successfully complete revision and preparation for the D-Day. "There will not be any benefit if you get stressed unnecessarily. Treat the D-Day as another mock test. If you take unnecessary stress, it will definitely hamper your performance. I know several people who perform better in mock tests than the final exam and the reason is stress," says Mohith S, CAT topper, and an IIM Rohtak student.

Tips for takers of later slots
A majority of test takers have chosen the middle and end slots for CAT 2012. If you are among them, you still have some time left and can utilize the remaining days fruitfully. Take mock tests after two to three days and analyze them in between. Revise everything that you have prepared, as you never know the areas you may get questions from. "Write a mock every two-three days, analyze your performance and revise. Also relax and do your best. Don't bother beyond that," says Srinivas.

If you are taking the test in the end slot, you still have time left to manage your weak areas. You must have the basic knowledge and if you brush it up, you may very well get over weaknesses and reach a stage to attempt easy questions. But if you have not even done the basic preparation, there is no point in starting them now.
