Music community nurtured by the BBC Performing Arts Fund
We are creating a music community, Songeist, based on a strong ethos, which will allow artists to be rightfully compensated for their work and giving them the ability to sell music online, post audio samples, and learn how to promote a band. This is

This year the UK will be implementing a series of new music initiatives so that new bands and new music can be heard. How to promote a band? Start by making it. The BBC are offering these music incentives in the hopes that new bands will flourish and new music can be created.
"Musicians, choirs and orchestras from across the UK will be eligible for grants totalling £450,000 from the BBC Performing Arts Fund this year, as the charity focuses its activities solely on music." says an article from 'The Stage' magazine.
As first revealed by The Stage, "The PAF changed its strategy in 2011, so that it now supports just one area of the arts each year. In previous years, the charity has run a number of schemes covering new music, theatre and dance alongside each other. In 2011, the charity focused on dance, and this year it will support music, with two brand new music initiatives."
"The first of these is the Music Community scheme, which will see grants of up to £5,000 awarded to "grassroots music groups", such as choirs, new bands and orchestras, from across the UK. These grants are designed to help the groups carry out training, attract new audiences and encourage new bands members. Grants of up to £10,000 will also be awarded to groups wanting to commission new music."
"Meanwhile," say The Stage "The Music Fellowships scheme, which will accept applications from August, will support individuals in the early stages of their new music careers. The grants will enable them to take placements within existing music community organizations."
BBC PAF chair Dorothy Wilson said: "Music has been part of the fund since it was formed out of Fame Academy. This year we will continue that support by investing in community groups as well as nurturing new bands across the UK."
"Next year," say The Stage, "the charity will fund theatre initiatives."
We at Songeist think this is a tremendous thing for the BBC to have done. We fully support their efforts in seeing that new bands and new music are encouraged. It can be hard to know how to promote a band. The BBC will teach young musicians how to get their new music heard. On our music website, Songeist.com, you can listen to music, download music, discover new bands and new music and sell music online. You have access to audio samples and can learn how to promote a band. It is above and beyond any of the other music websites. It's going to be the next big thing in music distribution. Please join our music community. It's not just for artists. Fans and music lovers too can download music, listen to music and discover new bands.
