Today Culinary Arts is an expanding and evolving industry that offers career opportunities throughout the world. Consumers are becoming increasingly interested in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it is produced and the ethical issues such as animal welfare and the impacts of food production and transportation on the environment and communities. The hospitality industry requires chefs and food producers who can develop products that meet the concerns of these consumers. The industry predicts that demand for chefs and food producers will increase by 16.7% annually and competition for knowledgeable staff will be high.
With this in mind, ITM-IHM launched the ITM School of Culinary Arts in 2011, the elite professional Chef training school, offering 2 & 3 year programs for aspiring chefs, with intimate personal training under the guidance of internationally recognized chefs and food experts. Through the Culinary Arts programs students gain solid culinary skills as well as a strong business foundation. Over the length of the program students receive rigorous culinary training, leadership skills and the positive collaborative attitude needed to excel in the foodservice world.
An elite Culinary Arts program needs an international flavour, and ITM School of Culinary Arts has recently signed an MOU with the University of Derby, UK who are world renowned for their Culinary Arts degree program. This partnership will enable ITM students to transfer to the Level three of Derby's BA in Culinary Arts program in the UK or continue at ITM in Mumbai, leading to an award of BA in Culinary Arts from University of Derby, UK.
ITM School of Culinary Arts has also partnered with the prestigious Chef Academy USA for students who wish to pursue professional culinaria and culinary management in the United States.
ITM School of Culinary Arts has provided pre-prep and grooming services to Star Plus for their Master Chef Seasons 1 and 2, and is now doing the same for Junior Master Chef as well. In fact, Celebrity Chef Vikas Khanna is a distinguished visitor to the School!
Recently ITM IHM has launched a one-year Advanced Diploma in Patisserie and Culinary Arts (ADPC). This program incorporates formal baking and confectionary techniques together, creating a fusion of bakery and confectionary aesthetic designs, that we are popular among upcoming patisseries in the market.
"The art of baking and patisserie has entered a new age of aesthetic design and is no more confined to something that helps to stave off hunger only. We teach not only contemporary baking and confectionary knowledge and techniques, but also the newly added elements of aesthetic design creating the new concept of design in patisserie and confectionary." The ADPC program trains and nurtures the future talent that bakery and confectionary sector urgently needs. The students who take this program will become leading lights who are able to incorporate good food with aesthetic designs that will become more appealing to customers bearing in mind the future trends in baking, patisserie and confectionary.
