CAT 2012@ CAT Day 2 paper moderate to tough, VA gets more difficult
The first slot of CAT 2012 Day 2 saw better participation, probably because it is a Saturday and candidates having a fair idea on what to expect for.

Shaurya, a candidate, said, "The exam was of moderate difficulty level. The Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation section was tougher compared with the Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning section. Overall, my exam went well and I have attempted 18 questions in the first section and 33 questions in the second."
Reshma, another CAT taker, was of the view that the Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning section was tougher compared with the Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation.
According to test takers, the topics from the Quantitative Ability area were mensuration, geometry, algebra and arithmetic. The Verbal Ability section had questions from para jumbles, sentence correction, vocabulary and grammar.
Swati Gupta, another test taker, said, "I found the Verbal Ability area quite tricky in terms of the English usage questions. The RC passages were also a bit ambiguous and tough. The LR questions were easier.
Experts are of the view that the exam has followed the set pattern and the difficulty level was no different from CAT Day 1.
Arks Srinivas, CEO, VistaMind Education, was of the view that the difficulty level has increased compared to the last year. "The QA & DI questions have become quite tough. The Verbal Ability section had some quite difficult questions in the grammar area. The VA area is getting tougher."
"All the questions were not same for candidates. Out of three DI and LR sets, two of them were same while one was different. I feel this one set would be repeated in coming days," Mr Srinivas added.
Gautam Puri, vice-chairman, Career Launcher, has some suggestions for candidates taking the test on Sunday and the next week, "Focus on past CAT papers from 1995 to 2008. You may get same questions. The exam so far hasn't thrown any surprises."
Srinivas suggested, "Spend the time on the basic concepts. Don't worry if you can't solve many questions."
CAT 2012 Day 1 saw 4,429 candidates taking the test across India. CAT 2012 has started from October 11 and will end on November 6. October 13 is the second day of CAT 2012 after a gap of one day. The exam will be taken by around 2.14 lakh candidates.
