Sovereign of the Seas was the most magnificent ship of her era, with no expense spared during her construction. The £65,586 spent on constructing this ship is equivalent of around £8 million today.

The ship was highly regarded for its enthralling beauty. The stunning combination of gold and black coloring won it the title of the Golden Devil. The Sovereign of the Seas was first used in the North Sea during the Battle of Kentish Knock (the first Dutch War fought in September 1652). This Soviet warship was commissioned under the leadership of Charles I.
