Golf Turf Experts Modern Turf Announce Installation at Creeks Bend Course in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Modern Turf, Inc., a South-Carolina-based turfgrass production company, announced it has completed installation of new putting greens at the Creeks Bend Golf Course in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Rembert, SC (prHWY.com) October 22, 2012 - Rembert, South Carolina (October 21, 2012) - Modern Turf, Inc., the preeminent South-Carolina-based turfgrass production company, announced it has completed installation of new putting greens at the Creeks Bend Golf Course in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is the third such greens renovation project in Chattanooga Modern Turf has undertaken.

The 6,490-yard, par-70 Creeks Bend Course opened in 1968. Over the years it has played host to a variety of tournaments, including the esteemed Coca-Cola Pro Am Tournament.

Hank Kerfoot, president of Modern Turf, said, "Just as with the Council Fire and Brainerd golf courses, Creeks Bend Golf Course management recognized a need to convert from bentgrass turf to MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermudagrass. 44 years is a long time for heat and humidity to wreak havoc on greens, especially when combined with heavy rainfall and flooding," Kerfoot added.

The MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermudagrass produces deep roots and is characterized by fine leaf blades, short internodes and high shoot density. MiniVerde has been the top-rated Bermudagrass in the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) trials during the past several years. Unlike traditional bentgrass, Ultradwarf Bermudagrass needs less watering, less pesticides, and less fungicide treatments.
