Toronto, Canada (prHWY.com) October 24, 2012 - Toronto, ON, Canada, October 24, 2012 -- Daniel Hayes Finishes 3rd Place in 2012 Winston Invitational Toronto-based actor, MMA fighter, and entertainer competed in Ontario's top bodybuilding competition

Toronto's own, Daniel Hayes, competed in the 2012 Winston Invitational bodybuilding competition and finished in an astonishing 3rd place out of dozens of contestants. Featuring many of Canada's top bodies, the invitation was held in Cobourg, Ontario on October 20, 2012.

Earlier this year, Hayes competed in the UFE Spring BASH under the Fitness Model category. After taking a number of valuable lessons from the experience in the spring, Hayes' new level of focus and dedication to the art of bodybuilding will be a major factor on Saturday as he competes in the Welterweight division (154lbs-165lbs).

"It was already an honour to be invited to the event so to even place was beyond my wildest imagination. Personal health and fitness has always been a passion of mine, and getting to compete in the Winston Invitational is such a great feeling," said Hayes.

A modern renaissance man in the Toronto entertainment scene, Hayes is an aspiring actor who has starred in many films. Hayes, who also bides his time in mixed marital arts training, is a certified MMA trainer and competitor in the ring, even producing, writing, and taking the lead role in the 2009 film, "Modern Day Gladiator".

"I always stay active," says Hayes. "A healthy diet and my love of so many different sports and activities have really allowed me to become a competitor in the bodybuilding circuit."

About Daniel Hayes
A Toronto native with a unique Trinidadian and Venezuelan background, Daniel Hayes has always stayed active in soccer, basketball, football, baseball or swimming. Turning down opportunities to play basketball for a number of NCAA Division one schools, Hayes instead opted to remain in Canada taking an athletic scholarship with Thomson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC.

Leading such an active and health conscious lifestyle, Daniel's entrance in the 2012 UFE Spring BASH, led to a successful placing among some of the top bodybuilding talent today.

No stranger to the camera, Hayes has been an accomplished model since the age of 17 as well as pursuing a budding acting career. A student of The Second City Toronto, he has appeared in ads for Nike, And1, a number of critically acclaimed short films, and feature length pictures. Writing, producing, and starring in 2009's "Modern Day Gladiator", Daniel depicted a true to life look at the like of a professional mixed-martial arts (MMA) fighter - which was accepted in the LA Film Festival in 2009. Daniel continues to balance his budding film career, bodybuilding competition, and MMA training.

Whether in the octagon, in front of the camera, or performing his bodybuilding routine before a sold-out crowd, Hayes is a testament to the philosophy of an "active life is a happy life."
