A New Trend in Hotels - On Demand Vancouver Airport Hotels
Finding an airport hotel can be difficult, especially in major cities like Vancouver. Some days all the hotel rooms are booked in advanced, while other days the hotels are almost empty. This trend can make travelers extremely frustrated,

"We decided to create a business that could help relieve travelers' frustration about not receiving a hotel room near the airport", said founder of Hotel on Demand, Greg White. "What we've created is a unique, innovative company that really can help travelers."
Hotel on Demand looks very similar to an oversized traveling tour bus. Each oversized tour bus can hold up to 30 guests and features two tiny bathrooms and a small kitchen. Guests are able to pay $70 a night to stay in the traveling tour bus when the hotel is sold out.
"We don't want to compete with any of the Vancouver airport hotels", explained White. "What we want to do is provide travelers with a hotel room when those that should be available are not. There is no reason that people should have to travel over 30 miles to find the nearest hotel. That is what we are trying to fix."
Hotel on Demand features a fleet of 15 tour buses. These tour buses come into the area when the hotels have been overbooked or there aren't any rooms available. Guests can choose to stay in these tour buses or travel several miles to the nearest available hotel.
"Sometimes when I couldn't get any rooms in the nearby Vancouver airport hotels I'd have to travel close to 30 minutes to find the nearest hotel", explained frequent traveler, Barry Collins. "This made it difficult especially if I had an early morning flight. Sometimes I'd just sleep in the airport because it was easier."
These mini hotels have been around for about seven months and have become increasingly popular. Guests enjoy the fact that they are cost effective, near to the airport and feature the amenities that they want and need.
"Sometimes I find myself paying more for a hotel that has a lot of amenities", said Travis Hunter. "This hotel allows me to get just what I need. There is no paying for pools, hot tubs and spas that I won't use. This is perfect."
Hotel on Demand plans to expand to other cities where airport hotels sometimes become overbooked.
