Reduce the Risk during your DIY Painting Projects
If you're planning to tackle a DIY painting project, be sure to apply safety precautions as liberally as you do paint strokes.

With the amount of incidents on the rise, several web pages have sprung up, solely dedicated to educating those thinking about taking on their first DIY projects on exactly what steps they can take to ensure not only the perfect finish, but also the safety of themselves, their home and their loved ones.
Webmaster of one such site, Allyson Paris, spoke during a recent interview about exactly what drove her to launch her site and about the reasons behind her passion for DIY safety.
"Around about five or so years ago, we moved into our new home. We had grand plans to paint, decorate, renovate - the whole nine yards. We settled on the fact that a fresh coat of paint would be sufficient for now and my husband, Andrew, set about the task," said Paris.
"Everything was going along brilliantly and each weekend was dedicated to a new room. Andrew decided to tackle the bathroom one weekend while I was out with the children and, despite being warned he didn't have any windows or doors open while painting the bathroom with gloss-based painted."
"Richard got quite ill from the fumes and we spent an evening in the hospital. It was then and there that we both came to appreciate that while DIY might be fantastic for saving money and could prove to be a really fun, at-home project, the same safety rules that apply to the professionals, had to apply to us also," Paris concluded.
Allyson has become just one of many web masters who are getting behind the cause of spreading DIY safety awareness.
Those looking to tackle their first DIY painting project are advised to consult with an expert at their local paint store prior to beginning any new projects and are urged to always take heed of the safety warnings that are present on each and every can of paint and subsequent tools used to apply them.
