York, United Kingdom (prHWY.com) October 25, 2012 - Equas, the management consultancy behind ISO in a Box - the solution that helps organisations improve their existing management systems to achieve certification to a range of ISO and OHSAS standards - says many companies aren't making enough of their ISO certification.

The firm said organisations with ISO certification should be proud of their achievement, particularly as many of their competitors may not have reached the standard. It says that whenever possible, businesses should highlight that the standards that they have achieved as well as explaining what they mean.

A spokesperson for Equas said: "Our ISO in a Box solution is used to make it easier for companies to achieve ISO certification, but that doesn't mean meeting the requirements should not be shouted about. It is something that demands real change on behalf of employers and employees, and which demonstrates a commitment towards maintaining a high standard. Not all companies are willing to do this, so those that do should not be shy about what they have done and, if relevant, why."

Equas cited including ISO logos on all marketing collateral, both on- and offline, including the company website, press releases, brochures, letterheads and anything else used to communicate with people external to the organisation. It also said adding an explanation to the website as to what ISO certification means for the business, customers and the wider community could be a great way of making more of the certification.

Each standard represents a different commitment on behalf of the company that has achieved it. For example, ISO 9001 demonstrates a firm's commitment towards continually meeting the requirement of its customers for a high quality product or service. ISO 14001 demonstrates that an organisation has implemented a management system that controls the environmental impact it has.

"Both these standards can be a great tool for marketing a company," the spokesperson said. "Customers not only want to know that the quality of service they will be receiving is consistently high, they also want to do their own bit for the environment by using a business that is as committed as they are."
