Noida, India (prHWY.com) October 26, 2012 - The morning slot of the 11th day of CAT 2012, conducted on October 25, passed off without any untoward incident. The difficulty level of the paper was easy to moderate sans any surprise.

According to Gautam Puri, vice-chairman, Career Launcher, "None of the section was tough. Most of the questions were doable and aspirants who prepared well found it easy. Till now, the papers have been better that the two previous years. The pattern of the questions divided into two sections is really helping students as it brings clarity. However, the score will ultimately depend on the ability of candidates to identify and pick right questions."

Another CAT expert, who did not wish to be named, said: "The CAT has so far been on the expected lines. Students need to apply more of common sense rather than to recollect formulae. Preparation, time management and accuracy will tilt the balance irrespective of the date and time of taking the exam."

Sunil Srivas, an aspirant from Delhi, said: "The paper was easy. I attempted 13 questions in each of the sections. In Quant, a majority of questions (5) were from algebra. It was the trickiest topic too. DI was very easy and not time taking. It had a total of eight questions. In the verbal section, questions were not tough. The maximum weightage was on passages. They were not big (around 600 words) and questions were direct. Overall, I am satisfied."

Narendra kumar, a test taker from Noida, said: "The Quant section was a bit tough while the verbal section was easy to moderate. I attempted 19 in Quant and 25 in the verbal section. Mensuration & algebra were the focal points of the first section with both these topics sharing 11 questions. Data interpretation was tricky with 3 sets and 9 questions, including the ones on graph & pie chart. In the verbal section, all the three passages were lengthy (800-900 words). Questions were indirect, time-consuming and confusing in one-two cases.

Now, let us have a look on the section-wise analysis.

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation

The section was easy to moderate in nature. In Quant, the emphasis was on algebra which has become a trend this year. Questions also came from trigonometry, number system, P&C and geometry. Most of the data interpretation questions were easy.

Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning

Reactions for this section were mixed and contradictory. While some aspirants found the paper pretty doable, it was tricky and difficult for others. Expectedly, the focus was on passages. Questions asked from the passages tested the ability and mindset of aspirants. Questions of the logical reasoning section were easy.
