The main concept behind starting the website was to provide individuals more comprehensive real estate data regarding the Marco Island market.
"It is hard to find a local real estate site that provides individuals with up-to-date market reports and sales figures," Mr. Bartels said. Mr. Bartels' belief is that the great rise of national real estate websites was a direct result of providing consumers with easily accessible real estate market data. The downside of the national websites is that they do not always provide accurate and timely data.
"The data we provide is different than what can be found on the national sites. For example, we aggregate data for our customers showing market trends for single condominium complex. This micro data approach we take allows individuals to get a much clearer understanding of real estate trends that are taking place. After all, all real estate is local," Mr. Bartels said.
As 123Marco.com continues to grow, Mr. Bartels lacks the resources to create a web presence allowing the site to be discovered by individuals interested in the Marco Island real estate market. The 123Marco.com website currently allows individuals to view local-micro data from 1997-2011 on over 30 beachfront condo buildings, with the year-end goal to offer local-micro data for every major beachfront-condominium complexes on the island.
