Josh Richie Discusses the Ups and Downs of Starting Your Own Business

Small business owner Josh Richie describes how he went about starting his own business.

Temecula, CA (prHWY.com) October 30, 2012 - Josh Richie started his own mobile auto detailing business back in 2004 and is grateful to be his own boss. However, starting his business, Josh's Pro Detail, has not been without its challenges. For most people, starting a business can have many advantages. You get to make up your own hours, choose what line of work to pursue, and have as much flexibility as you need to develop your company into you envision. Those who are successful at bringing in profits will have even more opportunity to set their company up to their liking.

Despite being a busy high school student with additional extracurricular commitments, Josh Richie found the time to start up his business. Josh Richie states "initially I was just really into cars, and I liked working on them for fun." Later, he and his friends got to talking, and they suggested that he start turning his hobby into a job so that he could make a profit while still doing what he loved. Since he was still in school, Josh Richie appreciated being able to set his own hours and work when he wanted.

However, starting his own business was not without challenges. "It required me to be incredible motivated and a self-starter," Josh Richie claims. Without a boss to direct him, Josh Richie was in charge of his own success, and it wasn't always easy. It required lots of perseverance, a hard work ethic, and being able to endure hard times when there wasn't as much work available. Josh Richie also acknowledges how important it was for him to remain passionate about the work he was doing so he could remain dedicated to his company's success. "For me personally," Josh states, "I not only have to be a hard worker, but I need an outgoing personality to build a client base." Although it may be easy to come up with a business plan and get started, a successful company won't last long without dedicated customers.
