Manchester, United Kingdom (prHWY.com) October 31, 2012 - The Manufacturing Institute, the independent charity that supports companies and individuals in the manufacturing sector, has scheduled two Principles of Operational Excellence workshops in Yorkshire and Motherwell for spring 2013.

The events will provide an opportunity to learn how companies operating in the manufacturing sector can implement the Shingo Model - a set of principles designed to help organisations achieve operational excellence.

The first of the Shingo workshops will be held at Linpac in Featherstone, Yorkshire between the 5-6 February 2013, while the second will be hosted by Newsprinters in Motherwell between the 12-13 March.

As well as providing an opportunity to share ideas and discuss challenges with a small group of like-minded manufacturing managers, the Principles of Operational Excellence event will assess the host sites against the dimensions of the Shingo Model.

"We're looking forward to what we expect will be a memorable workshop that delivers practical advice and support, as well as a unique networking and knowledge-sharing opportunity," a spokesperson for The Manufacturing Institute. "The Shingo Model can be a valuable asset to manufacturing managers looking to improve the efficiency and productivity of operations to deliver outstanding results."

The Shingo Prize Model provides companies with a blueprint to achieve operational excellence and acts as a catalyst to drive lean transformation. Its robust framework, verified against global standards, allows businesses to measure their performance and identify ways to improve their operation.

The Manufacturing Institute's last Operational Excellence workshop was held on 17 October at Aero Engine Controls, a joint venture between Rolls-Royce plc and Goodrich Corporation, which designs, develops, manufactures and supports safety critical aircraft engine control systems for the large civil, regional and business, helicopter and defence markets.

The two-day courses cost £950.00 per place, with a 15% discount on offer for bookings for three or more people.
