MentorHealth will present webinar on "Incident Response -Are You Ready?"
MentorHealth, a leading provider of online training for the healthcare industry, is organizing a webinar on October 9 on the topic, "Incident Response -Are You Ready?".

Cyber threats on Protected Health Information (PHI) or personally identifiable health information are on the rise. No fewer than 500 breaches of various sizes of the covered entity are being investigated by the Office of Civil Rights (OCR).
Although the OCR may not directly investigate business associates involved in these breaches; it can hold them accountable. Its proposed final and interim-final HITECH-related rules that hold business associated responsible for breaches is in the final stages
This webinar will give participants the idea of how to develop a HIPAA Security Rule that gives an adequate response plan. This is being billed as one of the key compliance areas that covered entities and business associates should attend as part of the OCR's "culture of compliance" initiative.
The webinar will take participants from policy/procedure development, plan development and testing and steps to take if an incident occurs. Also, if the incident results in a breach of individuals' PHI or personally identifiable information (PII), the steps required by the breach notification interim final rule and state statute will be addressed.
It will cover the following areas:
o HIPAA Security Rule incident response requirements overview
o HITECH Interim Final Rule breach notification requirements
o State statute and general incident/breach response requirements
o Review of incident response requirements (step-by-step)
o Review of an incident response policy and procedure (available through the OMA website)
o Detailed plan development, resource assignment, testing and revision
o A breach occurs - then what and how much does it cost?
o Resources
