Garvey Schubert Barer's Erwin Krasnow Receives Ward L. Quaal Pioneer Award from Broadcasters Foundation of America

Washington, D.C. (prHWY.com) April 11, 2011 - Garvey Schubert Barer attorney and owner Erwin G. Krasnow was selected by the Board of Directors of the Broadcasters Foundation of America to receive the 2011 Ward L. Quaal Pioneer Award. Presented at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas on April 13, the annual Pioneer Awards, named in honor of iconic broadcaster Ward L. Quaal, recognize broadcast industry career contributions.

Krasnow represents radio and television broadcasters, tower owners, financial institutions and trade associations in administrative, legislative and transactional matters. He has advised sellers and buyers of broadcasting, cable, tower and telecommunications properties in transactions totaling in excess of $21 billion.

An author of several books, including Profitably Buying and Selling Broadcast Stations (2009), Krasnow formerly served as senior vice president and general counsel of the National Association of Broadcasters and as administrative assistant to the late Congressman Torbert H. Macdonald, chairman of the House Communications and Power Subcommittee. He is the founding director and vice chair of Broadcast Capital, Inc., a minority broadcast investment fund, and serves as the Washington counsel to the Media Financial Management Association.

In addition to Krasnow, 2011 Pioneer Award recipients include John Dille, president, Federated Media; Andrew Fisher, president, Cox Television (retired); Richard Ferguson, founder, New City Communications and EVP, Cox Radio (retired); Robert F.X. Sillerman, the largest shareholder of CKX, Inc. (owner and producer of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance); and Dennis Swanson, president, station operations, Fox Television Stations Inc.
